Week 10, Post 1: Blogging for Business

Image
Is Human Interest Important? Absolutely! Adding human interest to your blog post is pretty much the bread and butter of appealing to people. When looking at products for potential purchase, people want to feel they are the ones in control. If you are just marketing your product/service from your business' standpoint, people tend to see through the flare; of course your business is going to tell them your product is great, because you want their money. People would rather see other "non-biased" sources recommending  your product, even if it's just a real person (which could indeed be potentially biased), making conversation through a blog .  By showing your product being used by other people, or showing real-world people commenting or talking about it, a sense of trust in potential customers is developed. It makes them feel  in control, and that they are making an educated decision based on their own judgement, not just on your business' recommendation. People ar

Week 9: Twitter

Image
Questions for this week! Which search words you used to find your connections? Did you have to play around with more than one key term to start seeing the right results? Who did you end up finding? I had to play around with a lot of different search words. I wanted mainly local places/people, and there were no results for "dog bar" other than hot dogs. Anything relating to both alcohol and dogs were both difficult to find. I mainly had to search for bars and dog related things separately. I mainly just found local bars and local dog-related businesses. I did find people tweeting and asking if any dog bars exist. I still find it interesting that there aren't any! I even got a good idea for a new possible tag line, something involving "for your friend that's always down".  What lists did you create and why? How does creating a list on  Twitter  help you stay organized or reach a goal? I created two lists, one that is bar/alcohol related and one tha

Week 8, Post 2: Visual Support for Businesses

Image
Continuing on about visual media... Visual media is perfect for my business. As discussed in my previous blog post, my business is all about dogs and being social. This is a fun concept, and photos have a very strong potential to lure in my audience. People love seeing photos of dogs and drinks! You can visit my (very much in progress) instagram here:  https://www.instagram.com/barksandiego/ . Week 8, Post 1: Get Visual

For my business, Instagram would be the best choice for a visual platform, hands down. My business is focused on dogs and cocktails, two things that are very visually appealing. To get clients excited about my services, I had even planned to have a photo gallery available on my website. Instagram would be a great platform to share posts about visitors and their canine companions, as well as specialty in house cocktails. For many businesses, Instagram works very well. People are drawn in by images, especially if they have good composition and lighting, as well as a good caption. The possibility of bringing in new customers is endless with Instagram, if it’s done right. Stay tuned for Bar K’s Instagram account!

Week 7, Post 2: Schedule Postings

Image
See my scheduled posts below. I accidentally published a 4th one today as well! My 4 scheduled postings are the following: 1) Announcing the upcoming launch of my website - I do not actually have a website going for this business yet, but have a rough template sketch that I shared in the posting. This is meant to get people excited about the development of my business; people love to be a part of new things, so it is exciting for them to see new content from a business they might be interested in. I invited them to stay tuned for new and upcoming content (call to action to keep them engaged). Note: If this was a real business, I would not create a posting like this unless I actually had a website ready to launch. 2) "Puppy Hour" announcement to advertise our happy hour from 6-10 pm every Monday - Thursday. This includes $5 specialty cocktails (a drink of our choice), as well as free entry for pets from 6pm - close. This will inform our audience and get them exc
