In today’s world, participating in social media has become a routine habit for most of us. It comes into play just as regularly as eating, sleeping, or other daily functions. We check constantly for notifications, or engage with others over chat or through images and video. Week 3, Part 1: Communication - Business & Consumer

The companies that impress me the most are always those with impeccable/fast customer service; ones that go above and beyond to at least try to listen and resolve my issue are the ones that get the real points. I find myself most unhappy when I  am made to feel like an inconvenience, or am unable to communicate with a real person or find the solutions I need in a timely manner.   One example of is Discover, my prior student loan lender. Discover had never impressed me due to long wait times on hold, and difficulty connecting with a customer service representative. I also feel passed around from department to department every time I call, and the customer service was very hollow and impersonal. I have never attempted to connect with them via social media, though perhaps I should have. I have since switched my loans over to Earnest, which is has amazing customer service - a representative texted me as soon as I was approved to make sure I did not have any additional questio...

Week 1 First Post: Blog Template

Hello! I have always wanted to start a blog, but never actually sat down and made it happen. I am excited that this class is opening that door for me, and forcing me to get creative again, through visuals and through writing. For my blog, I chose the  Contempo  theme. I've customized it a bit - and will most likely be customizing further in the future - but I really liked it because of it's vintage feel. I really enjoy nature and scientific illustration, and feel like this one reminded me of that kind of style. I am also really drawn to the color red, so it is a good fit. It will be really fun to try and stick to a common theme with my blog posts throughout this class. Overall, I am excited to find my creative voice again, as art school pretty much sucked the life right out of me.
